Being Online & How I see Social Media
Being online and how I see social media is something that has drastically changed for me in the last year. I'm feeling more at ease within my own life and work. Ive found my own unique path so to speak. I's fantastic and I hope my social media posts reflect that! But in a way I really don't care anymore. It's me, and me alone doing my own thing. All that I see is a person sharing, helping and inspiring others to tale a leap of faith and follow their dreams.
Also our online space and social media is vital to any brand. Social media is akin to having a great website these days with a solid foundation of who you are. A quick way of sharing snippets of your life so others can (if they wish to) relate to you, be inspired and feel they know you already.
I keep very social media very straightforward, personal but also engaging for my followers. Now when I say followers, I say it very loosely, what I actually mean is in a sense my friends, or potential clients. I don't blog or post on Instagram to get likes or followers any longer. There was once a time when I had my old blog that it was imperative to be popular. I no longer care about these things as blogging has become a very different thing for me, It's a tool to connect, to be well....social with others. To engage in a love of style, photography and beauty. My social media reflects me and that's a little eclectic! I change my style to change my mood! The same as any photoshoot I create or direct.
Also the blogging world has drastically changed since I started my first ever blog 7 years ago. I blog to share my work, enable people to connect with me, see my work and have an insight into the way my projects or personal style comes together. It's like sharing my thoughts and visions with my friends not followers.
The hashtag thing is something I do to push my work forward or to inspire others. It also means I get to meet like minded people that even become good friends. I have met so many wonderful valued individuals on social media that have become part of my personal life.
Without said # I feel i'd never would have met these adorable, beautiful and passionate people! Life's law of attrition is putting yourself out there, that's all a # is doing on a larger scale! #empoweringwomen #positivementalattitude are my 2 favourites that along with #photographer and #creativedirector as I'm not just a makeup artist, nail technician, photographer or personal stylist. I visualise the entire creative process an image takes to put together. I do this everyday, every moment for every aspect of my work. I #lovemyjob yes, yes another favourite for me. But I swear I honestly do love what I do!
I share my own style, my thoughts and the images I have crafted with my friends who have seen me and my work grow and evolve. I don't have the time to be on Youtube right now so sharing images on social media is also a way to see my own creations come together. To look back on your own work is such a joyous thing too!
