Vegan Hair Colouring
I have been so thrilled to bring you this post today! My haircare routine is now also vegan. This time last year I never thought this would be me raving about vegan hair colouring. I had a full head of caramel and blonde highlights last week by the lovely Rebecca from Envy hair salon Southampton. The special non toxic hair dyes are in no way harmful to either the client, the hairdresser of the animal world.
Okay so lets cut to the chase – This is a revelation in hair colouring for me. I had never heard of vegan colour before until I met Rebecca through the love of Arbonne. She is also an independant consultant for the brand and we struck a cord, got on like a house on fire and decided to share my hair colour results. She offered to give me a treatment and I jumped at the chance to try it, share it and never look back.
The usual foil method was used and I can honestly say I loved not having to put up with the nasty chemical stench, a sore forehead and the worry my hair was going to go a weird colour! The results where so impressive I'm telling all my hairdresser friends to seriously think about the products they use everyday. And you to embrace vegan, non toxic, organic and safe alternatives to conventional colour systems.
My hair feels supper soft, bouncy and it lifted without any form of bleach. Okay well see for yourselves, I have no damage whatsoever. What's more beneficial is that myself and Rebecca know its so safe. No chemicals, no nasty ingredients just natural goodness.
Can you seriously believe it?! Sometimes it’s hard to see from the pics but the colour is utterly beautiful. It’s bright, rich, and shinny. I was amazed at the depth of the caramel and astounded by the blonde.
For some the fact that their hair dye isn't vegan wont bother them, but for me this is a huge part of my life now. I have grey hair as I'm in my 40's and I want cruelty free products. I also want to know that my hair brands are not toxic and dont contain harmful chemicals that can and will eventually harm the planet in the process.
Every time a woman dyes her hair, they are rolling the dice and overexposure from the colourant can happen. When chemicals are applied to the hair they will undoubtedly touch the scalp, they then make their way into your bloodstream. Then instantly your immune system has to fight hard to get rid of these nasty toxins again and again.
Over time as we keep visiting a salon for our 4-6 weekly appointments and these toxins will build up. Doesn't it make sense to avoid all that stress on the body. Along with knowing your not harming innocent animal's in the pursuit of beauty?
I can report that at no stage of having the colour done, during or after I felt any discomfort. I have a very sensitive scalp and have to be very careful with my hair. I had a disaster a few years ago and my hair melted due to an irresponsible hairdresser. I now have peace of mind that my monthly hair colour comes with absolutely no itching, burning or chemical irritations of any kind.
I absolutely love my fresh new hair colour. If you are in the Hampshire area I suggest you contact Rebbeca about booking in for a faboulos new do!
