Going Into The New Year & Hitting Restart
Welcome to 2018 everyone. Going into the new year and hitting restart is such a great thing to do. Even if the first few days feel like they are not going so well. A old friend of mine said to me a few days ago that we can all hit the restart button whenever we feel like it! Having great contacts, even ones that you've not spoken to for years that are always by your side when you need them is wonderful.
One factor I have decided to do a few days into the new year is to step away from any form of stress. I can't control things as I wish I could so I'm letting the universe take over. I'm a natural worrier, caring person, a bit of an over thinker and a problem solver for anyone I know, but it can be the biggest burden sometimes. So with the stress gone (or under control) and the reminders that I'm not the only one that can help in various situations I feel ready for the New Year and to really get stuck into my work.
I have so many incredible projects lined up for the beginning of 2018 it's truly mind blowing. I'm planning on traveling with work, taking more creative breaks, finally doing more images for my self portrait series, but maybe not all 52! Blame Christmas and having a very nasty bout of flu for intervening and putting a sledge hammer in the works!
My Winchester photography studio is looking so much bigger, brighter and inspiring. Over the last week we have replaced everything and made room for more creative photoshoots for clients. I've got tons of fashion brands wanting to work with me and my models. The projects are pouring in.
The fashion styling rail has had a revamp and is ready for all the spring summer drops to arrive. Although a few of last seasons looks I will be keeping for myself and others are being adding to the archive. I keep most of the vintage dresses used on major photoshoots with actors and models as one day they will be auctioned off for charity.
So 'm back to sourcing items from designers, the high street, from eBay, vintage stores and charity shops for my photoshoots and it feels so good to get back into a normal working week. I love long breaks over Christmas but it takes a while to get back into the mindset of what's needed for projects.
I'm back to regularly nipping into my favourite vintage stores, local markets and junk stores for unloved items. Items most people wouldn't think had life left....They are treasures to me and it's exciting to find every single thing that adorns my dressing up studio. To hold an item and visualise it on a client or model and practically see an image is thrilling.
Photoshoots take so much more pep than you'd think. From concept to the final edit, it's a well thought out progression. When you are a photographer and a fashion stylist like myself you don't ever stop hunting for hidden gems!
My story boards are being refreshed right now and new locations are being searched for. I have a multitude of images I love saved to folders for inspiration and visual creativity. 2018 is going to be the best ever I can just feel it.
